Most typing tests stop at a score. FreeType shows you exactly how to get faster.
Weak-key heatmaps
A per-key error map shows precisely which keys cost you speed and accuracy, so you always drill the right thing.

What is a good typing speed?+
The average typing speed is around 40 WPM. 60–80 WPM is good, 90–110 is fast, and 120+ puts you in the top few percent. Accuracy above 97% matters more than raw speed.
How is WPM calculated?+
Words per minute = (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed. We also show raw WPM (including mistakes), accuracy, and consistency — how even your typing rhythm is.
Is FreeType free?+
Yes. The typing test, practice drills, heatmaps and leaderboard are all free, with no account required.
Can I practice typing code too?+
Yes — switch the test to code mode to practice real snippets in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, C++, Go and Rust.
